Losey Vista

Jesse

Losey Vista is a viewpoint a bit off the main road to the west of Colton Point State Park. It is basically just a pull-off on a hunting road.

To get to it, the road is a bit rough. It is a packed dirt road that is only about 1.7 cars wide. I did encounter a car going the opposite direction of me when returning from the vista, and passing wasn't a major issue, but it may be an issue at some points, depending on the vehicles involved and where it occurs. That said, the road is basically a hunting road, so it doesn't get a lot of traffic to begin with.

The vista itself isn't terrible. It isn't as framed as the Four-mile viewpoint; it gives a wide, sweeping view of the surrounding land. But there isn't much else to do at the place. The trip up is hedged by trees with nothing significant of note, and the road continues on with some pull-offs for hunting access, but no other noteworthy views appeared nearby. Also, there were no trails or anything else to engage the body.

Overall, this viewpoint is skippable. I enjoyed visiting the spot, but it is a bit of work to get to without a great reward. When I visited, it was overcast, so the clouds and landscape were playing together to create interesting images. But the road there could create issues especially if hunting season increases the traffic. Also, it is a 10 minute drive, one-way, for a vista you will probably spend only half that amount of time at. So, again, it is skippable, but I would recommend it if you are adventurous and it sounds interesting to you.
